Ai Yano seeks the narrative of everyday life to transform them into jewellery objects. Ai is fascinated and inspired by picture books for their simplicity and ability to communicate deeper meaning behind a straightforward façade. Her jewellery is playful and interactive, the box jewellery contains a surprise, just like turning a page in a picture book. A final year foreign student in Edinburgh, her current collection is inspired by the risky adventure taken to be outside familiar surroundings; which has proved to be an invaluable experience.
