Amanda Birkitt
Amanda Birkitt has worked as a silversmith for 30yrs since leaving High Wycombe University with a first class Honours degree, and has exhibited throughout the South East. Amanda Birkitt is a designer silversmith creating individual works of art in precious metals. Her technical silversmithing and creative ability enables her to produce almost anything in small-scale silver (or gold). All pieces are one-off, therefore time is needed to design, produce and hallmark work, usually 8-10 weeks, unless it is a simple request. Each piece is individual and no mass production is employed, mostly finished with a high polish, decorative engraving or hammering effect. Amanda works from home in a purpose built workshop in rural Oxfordshire where she spends most of her time, either on commissions or her own work and exhibitions. She has also trained various work experience pupils from local schools. Her work has circled the globe from Australia to America and she exhibits extensively in the South East of England. Having spent 10 years on the council, Amanda Birkitt is a Fellow of the Society of Designer Craftsmen.
