Gracie lives in the Scottish Borders, right in the middle of no-where. Imagine; rolling hills, sheep-dotted fields, huge skies full of movement and colour – she finds it is truly an inspiring part of the world. Her surroundings, both day and night, are reflected in her work. All Gracie J designs have a celestial theme – her sky at night, without light-pollution, is over-crowded with stars and constellations hence; orbit, Venus, moonrock. The beads she uses are ceramic and either glazed or dipped in silver, copper or 24-carat gold and threaded onto finest quality leather. Each piece she makes, by hand, in the Borders. We all enjoy receiving a beautifully presented gift and the felt Gracie uses to line her boxes creates something really special and unique. Most of the wool used comes from her neighbour’s Jacobs Sheep (Jessie and Marigold). It is lovingly hand-felted to make these little works of art - an image of the incredible landscape and beautiful colours which she sees every day, the perfect complement to her jewellery.
