Harry Hornby
Central St Martin’s finalist, Cartier Scholarship winner, and recently named IJL ‘Bright Young Gem’, Harry Hornby launched her debut collection of elegantly contemporary fine jewellery at Central St Martin’s College of Art degree show in June 2010. Skilfully bringing together exceptional precious materials, sleek modernist styling and an indulgently feminine eye for colour, Harry's design ethos is one of confident simplicity. Her jewellery balances harmonious economy of form with dazzling optical illusion and the gorgeous opulence of coloured gems, micro-pavé diamonds and 18ct rose gold. Harry’s is a version of luxury that adorns, asserts and celebrates its wearer, conveying an elegance and self-assurance that is not undermined by a hint of caprice. Harry Hornby’s current collection was inspired by an exhibition of Breguet pocket watches she saw at the Louvre. As an expression of luxury, she loved the joyful audacity with which Breguet captured time itself and presented it as a colourful jewel. Harry was deeply inspired by this combination of rationality and exuberance, and wanted to express something similar in her own work. Harry's collection was made with the generous sponsorship, support and expertise of Weston Beamor. She also received extensive support and training from Simply Rhino and Marcus McCallum.
