Jayce Wong's 'A New Stone Age' collection explores the potential of using a gem's unique fluorescence as a source of beauty. The contrast between the perceived artificiality of fluorescence and these natural earthy minerals has been a gemmological fascination for centuries. The collection challenges established notions of the desirable, creating seductive objects of the future. Jayce took a sprinkle of glittering, fluorescent diamonds and glowing red-hot rubies, together with a handful of bold, juicy gems, and investigated the range of colours and fluorescing properties under illumination. Through her progressive design and pioneering use of gemstones, Jayce transforms jewellery from daytime charm into night time glitz through one single medium - light. All the gemstones used in Jayce's collection are hand picked for their fluorescence. Only 1/3 of all diamonds and only the top coloured rubies naturally fluoresce. London based Jayce Wong graduated from Central Saint Martins with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Jewellery Design. Also a graduated gemmologist from the GIA, Jayce's opulent jewellery showcases her passion for coloured gemstones.
