Joanne Macfadyen
Joanne’s work is inspired by the sentiment captured by the intricate images created by a kaleidoscope. The opulent, fanciful and rose tinted perspective it provides the viewer with, through its capriciously created images, is a feeling that she has aimed to evoke within her work. Joanne Macfadyen’s jewellery has evolved from drawings inspired by these images, using whimsical line and subtle colour to encapsulate the elaborate aesthetic and other worldly quality of the kaleidoscope. Joanne’s pieces incorporate various materials to harness a nostalgic grandeur. Silver and precious metal clay is used alongside semi precious stones and porcelain, which through a development of unconventional techniques intends to enhance a free flowing, unrestrained & subdued decadence to each piece in this collection.
