Linsey Mann
Each piece of playful collage jewellery created by Linsey Mann is full of associations. Amongst a host of influences, her current work references old board games, tin toys and domestic textiles. There is a strong mechanical A influence, due to her childhood spent with her father and grandfathers constant tinkering with household gadgetry and gardening machinery. Fixing a broken item was always secondary to discovering how it worked. Linsey watched with fascination as screws, nuts and bolts, ball bearings, cogs, bits and bobs were laid out carefully during an operation. Combining her own printed anodised aluminium with precious metals and found materials, Linsey works intuitively, placing and shifting elements of a piece until the composition comes together and the piece makes sense. By incorporating found objects into her jewellery, Linsey hopes to trigger the sensory memory of the viewer by creating both foreign and yet familiar associations.
