Serena Park
Serena Park’s work is made of a collection of exquisite and timeless sculptural pieces. Her jewellery combines glass blowing, traditional goldsmith, and modern jewellery making techniques. Hidden within their organic shapes and beautiful colours is a message of harmony, a harmony between the different materials of glass, gemstones, and precious metal, and also the attunement of Nature with the human body. The contrasting materials of glass and metal represent the two sides of human beings, their fragility and their tenacity. Some of these softly sculpted shapes are made of recycled glass, a beer bottle from a party or a champagne bottle with a precious memory in it. The work has a concern for environmental issues as well as personal memories. All of these elements conjure up a sense of the “marvellous” and bring the “elegant refinement of the goddess” into ordinary life. Although a consistent aesthetic runs through all of her works, each of her collections has a totally different theme from the others, making each one a truly unique experience.
